Wasssuuuuuuuuuuup! I hope everyone's been well!
This past week, the focus of the mission has been getting the people we're teaching to church. This has been a super hard goal for us to reach in the past, cause there are many people that don't feel safe congregating in large groups (especially cause a majority of the ward I cover is a bunch of old people jaja). But it's definitely a blessing to be gathering in weekly sacrament meetings, and hopefully half of the congregation will be all of the people we're teaching right now!
I also had my very first street contact in almost 5 months!! (I'm not sure if it was exactly permitted by the Corona guidelines we have... 😰) But we were just walking to a nearby chapel to do some calls, and along the way there sat a scuffed up man with some Doritos and a beer can next to his feet. We said "Hola!" and thus started one of the most unintelligible conversations I've ever had. He was clearly drunk, and even after praying for the gift of tongues, I could only understand about 10% of the words that came out of his mouth.
When we came back from the chapel, he was still there in the same spot, but with a small pile of vomit next to him this time 😝. However, we still managed to figure out that he is in great need of a job and we also taught that his Heavenly Father loves him very much, and that we can feel His love through prayer.
That definitely wasn't what I imagined my first street contact to be like, but I'll take it! See you all next week!
